As his career penalty minutes statistic shows, Renfrew Millionaire forward Sprague Cleghorn was a strong, tough player. Along with his brother Ogilvie, he joined the team for the 1910-11 season enticed by a large salary offer .
A very aggressive player, he quickly became a fan favourite, playing beside Fred "Cyclone'' Taylor. Cleghorn reputedly brawled his way through every game, not afraid to fight any member of the opposition team.
When the franchise withdrew from the National Hockey Association, Creghorn, along with his brother Ogilvie, joined the Montreal Wanderers, where he stayed for six more seasons.
He then joined the Ottawa Senators for two years before once again joining the same team as his brother, the Canadiens, for four years.
Creghorn retired after his three seasons with the Boston Bruins in 1928, four years after his brother had retired from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Like other former Renfrew Millionaires, his contribution to the game is now recognized in the Hockey Hall of Fame, having been inducted in 1958.
